Bio

Drew Wann grew up an hour outside of Washington D.C.; this provided a diversity of environments that inspired visual communication and design. Wanting to learn how to create, Drew started by watching his grandfathers’ woodwork and began taking lessons from a local artist his grandparents knew. This sparked concern and a connection to seek new conventions, which led him to pursue a BFA in Communication Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Where he is now working as a Gallery Fellow and freelance designer.

Artist Statement

I offer brand development and awareness through marketing and visual media that is fine-tuned to the aesthetic and function of the products I represent. I extend the visual marketing that serves my clients and their products by underlying associations or senses of representation. My work, in addition to graphic marketing, also inspires both social and spiritual responses in the viewer. Referencing Expressionism, Surrealism, and Postmodernism to lean into what is perceived and undergone by a human. Human dynamics are abstract and often breach realism physically and artistically. Harmony is then found through artistic freedom, evoked emotion, irrationalism, and spontaneity to connect visual and contextual motifs.
